First Nations Insurance Services Ltd. provides group benefits, insurance, and pension services to First Nations governments, their businesses, and institutions. Coming into existence in 1986 to serve clients in Northern Saskatchewan, FNIS has expanded to include all of Saskatchewan as well as Alberta and the Northern Territories.
The company is 100% First Nations owned by the Lac La Ronge Indian Band and Peter Ballantyne Developments L.P. FNIS offers Pension services and Group benefits, which include life and dependant life coverage, short and long term disability as well as extended health, dental, and vision coverage. Reserve-based pension plans enables non-taxable pension benefits after retirement for Registered Treaty Indians earning non-taxable income on reserves. There is also an Employee Assistance Program to access. Individual RRSP, LIFS, and other insurance services are also available.
FNIS is located in the PBCN Office Complex building on the Chief Joseph Custer Reserve #201 in Prince Albert. There is also a branch office in Saskatoon at the SIEF building on the Muskeg Lake urban reserve. FNIS not only administers the plan from their current locations but provides on-going service calls to all clients.
